The azalea is a small shrub that is covered in flowers in season, like a living bouquet on a living-room table or entrance. It likes a bright, fairly cool spot and soil that never dries out.

Where to put it

Near a bright window in a living room, indoor entrance or office, in a fairly cool room, away from direct sun and direct AC draughts.

Care in the Saudi climate

• Light: bright, indirect.
• Water: keep the soil moist; filtered or RO water is best, as hard water harms it.
• Temperature: likes it fairly cool; heat shortens flowering.
• Soil: prefers acidic soil; when repotting use a mix for acid-loving plants.

Caution

Azaleas are toxic to cats and dogs and can cause serious symptoms – keep it well out of reach of pets and small children.
