...Lucky bamboo is an indoor plant with elegant green stems, available spiral or straight. It lives in indirect light with very little care and adds a calm green touch to desks, tables and living-room corners. Despite its name, it isn't a true bamboo – it's a dracaena.
Why lucky bamboo?
- Easy care, good for beginners.
- Spiral or straight shapes that suit modern interiors.
- Lives indoors at home or in the office in indirect light.
Where to put it
On a desk or reception table, in a living-room corner, or near a window that doesn't get direct sun. The 50 cm size suits tables and shelves; 70 and 90 cm suit the floor and corners.
Care in the Saudi climate
- Light: bright, indirect light; direct sun scorches the leaves.
- Water: in soil, keep it moist but not soggy; in water, change it weekly and use chlorine-free water.
- Humidity: dry air near the AC can brown leaf tips; keep it out of the direct AC draught.
- Feeding: a weak liquid fertilizer now and then is enough.
- Yellow leaves: usually overwatering or direct sun.
Safety
Toxic to cats and dogs (ASPCA). Keep it out of pets' reach.
Sizes
- Spiral or straight, 50 cm: for tables and shelves.
- Spiral or straight, 70 cm: for the floor beside furniture.
- Spiral or straight, 90 cm: a statement floor piece for corners.
